Dame Vivienne Westwood has designed a collection of new uniforms for Virgin Atlantic, unveiled at a party in Shoreditch last night.
Blondie performed to guests including Naomie Harris, Daisy Lowe and Jamie Campbell-Bower (plus Sir Richard, of course) to celebrate the Brit mega-brands teaming up.
7,500 staff including pilots, cabin crew and holiday reps will wear the 22 piece uniform, the re-launch of which coincides with the airline’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
As usual, the environment was our favourite flame-haired fashion dame’s top priority and so she selected a sustainable polyester fabric made from recycled plastic bottles, topped off with a nano finish to extend the durability and enhance the colour-fastness of the pieces.
Inspired by iconic hostess ensembles, 40s couture cuts and Virgin’s signature ‘red hot’ concept, the range includes a double breasted ‘drape coat’ for women, while men have a three piece suit inspired by classic Saville Row tailoring techniques.
Passengers will be able to see the uniform in flight from 1st September this year.
