Can you put a word in for me with Julian? Naomie Harris cosies up to Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery after revealing she wasn't asked to audition for show
Naomie Harris recently revealed that as a black actress a role in Downton Abbey was out of reach. But perhaps she's hoping to change that.
The beautiful actress bumped into Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery at a pre-Golden Globes party in Los Angeles on Thursday night, and during their conversation perhaps might have asked Lady Mary to put a word in for her with creator Julian Fellowes.
Hook me up: Downton star Michelle Dockery and Mandela actrss Naomie Harris caught up at the W Magazine Party at Chateau Marmont on Thursday
Fashionable friends: Michelle wore a checked Altuzarra midi-dress while Naomi looked gorgeous in a Marni embellished minidress and Jimmy Choo shoes
Naomie told The Telegraph: '... obviously there are roles that [as a black woman] I just haven't been put up for, like in Downton Abbey'.
But the actress who made cinematic history as the first black Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond film Skyfall insisted equality in the film industry was improving and said that 'the film industry's progress in terms of race has been extraordinary.'
Naomie looked glamorous in a white Marni minidress and Jimmy Choo Tamba heels showing off her slender figure, as did Michelle in a checked midi length Altuzarra dress.
Period drama: Naomie has previously said in an interview that as a black actress roles in a show like Downton Abbey have not been offered to her
The pair looked chummy as they posed for a snap together, as they caught up on all the latest gossip from home, and swapped tips on their forthcoming appearances on the Golden Globes red carpet.
Michelle who plays Lady Mary Crawley on the show, is in town to support Downton Abbey at the Golden Globes.
The Downton star revealed she has already picked out the perfect gown for the high-profile film and television awards ceremony held in Los Angeles this Sunday.
You look great! No YOU look great! The stylish pair greeted each other enthusiastically at the industry party
'I decided yesterday. I had a few to choose from. There were such amazing ones. It's hard to choose sometimes, but I'm really happy with the one I got. It's always fun to play dress up,' she told E! news.
The Julian Fellows-penned drama has received a nomination for Best Television Drama but is up against stiff competition in the form of American heavyweights Breaking Bad, The Good Wife, House of Cards and Masters of Sex.
Meanwhile Naomie is in contention for the Best Supporting Actress at the prestigious ceremony for her role as Winnie Mandela biopic Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom.
Happy days: Naomie looked cheerful as she left the pre-Golden Globes bash which was attended by Kate Hudson and Bradley Cooper
However Naomie and fellow Brit Idris Elba, her Mandela co-star have both been snubbed by BAFTA as neither of them have been shortlisted for an award.
Idris, 41, revealed his annoyance on Twitter at BAFTAs snub, taking on the role of TV detective Luther to send a message of 'Lutherrage', hinting he would fly into a rage similar to his TV character, John Luther, in hit show 'Luther'.
He wrote on Twitter: 'Ok peeps, ...I've got an appointment at the @BAFTA I'm gonna do a #Lutherrage and ask where @NaomieHarris nomination? (sic)''
It may come as a consolation that Mandela is nominated for Outstanding British Film alongside Gravity, Philomena, Rush, Saving Mr. Banks and The Selfish Giant.
Earlier on Thursday Michelle looked radiant as she stepped out at a luncheon in West Hollywood.
