Idris Elba and Naomie Harris starring in The Personal History Of Rachel Dupree

Idris Elba and Naomie Harris
They shared the screen as Nelson and Winnie Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and now Idris Elba and Naomie Harris are planning to bring their chemistry to a new film, novel adaptation The Personal History Of Rachel Dupree.
Claire McCarthy wrote and will direct the indie drama, which draws from Ann Weisgarber's book. Harris will be the title character, pregnant with her latest child even as she worries about the five she already has with her untrustworthy husband, played by Elba. Worried about how her family will survive the incoming cold winter, she's forced to take matters into her own hands, preparing to fight for her survival and that of her children. Her husband, meanwhile, seems set on her staying put and focusing on his ambitions.
Sounds like it will be an intense, dramatic face-off between the pair, and the rights will be on sale at Cannes. Elba will next be seen in Star Trek Beyond (out July 22) and heard in Finding Dory (29 July). Harris hasOur Kind Of Traitor due this week.

Naomie and Idris have a reunion over a brandy at La Maison Rémy Martin in London.

Suits you! Naomie Harris goes braless in plunging blazer and two-tone trousers for launch of new pop-up members club

Finding the right balance between sexy and sophisticated can often be tricky, however Naomie Harris made it look effortless when she stepped out on Monday evening.
The Bond girl left her bra at home for the launch of new pop-up members only club, La Maison Rémy Martin in London.
With her tresses worn up in a relaxed 'do, the 38-year-old set pulses racing with her plunging outfit before reuniting with her Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom co-star Idris Elba.

How low can you go? Naomie Harris looked stunning as she arrived at the La Maison Rémy Martin launch party on Monday evening
The beauty stood out from the crowd in her black blazer, which was teamed with a pair of two-tone ankle-grazing trousers, complete with orange hem.
Elongating her already lengthy pins with elegant strappy heels, Naomie added just a simple silver chain to her ensemble.
However the Skyfall star made sure to give her classic look some edge with thanks to a printed clutch bag.

Plunging: The 38-year-old went braless under her black jacket, which she teamed with a matching pair of trousers, complete with orange hem
Naomie was seen chatting to Yasmin Le Bon while Idris, 42, looked dapper in a grey jumper, jeans and dark leather shoes.
The 28 Days Later actress looked upbeat after tweeting at the weekend to say: 'Was anyone else totally wiped out this weekend? I couldn't stop sleeping! Apparently it was the change of seasons affecting us all!'
The star recently finished filming Our Kind of Traitor opposite her on-screen love interest Ewan McGregor.
Stand out: The James Bond beauty polished off her attire with eye-catching clutch and a relaxed up 'do

The thriller – an adaptation of the 2010 novel by John Le Carre - was shot in Paris and is expected to be released next year.
Susanna White’s new film will see the couple in the middle of Russian oligarch Dmitri ‘Dima’ Vladimirovich Krasnov’s plan to defect after he reaches out to Perry, believing him to be a British spy.
Their involvement with the billionaire money launderer puts them in a precarious position when they are caught between the British Secret Service and the Russian mafia.
Reunion: Naomie's former Mandela co-star Idris Elba was also in attendance, where he looked dapper in a grey jumper and jeans

Naomie Harris In Alexander McQueen – La Maison Remy Martin Members Club Launch Party

Naomie Harris In Alexander McQueen - La Maison Remy Martin Members Club Launch Party
I was delighted to see Naomie Harris back on the red carpet again for the launch of La Maison Rémy Martin members club on Monday (November 24) in London, England.
The British actress was looking very sharp wearing an Alexander McQueen classic tuxedo jacket updated with a contoured, feminine shape.
Working the look sans blouse for a more sultry vibe to this mannish offering, I’m not usually a fan of ankle-swinging trousers, but the red colour block gives this piece a new dimension and totally helps win me over.
Styled with Bionda Castana ‘Alexandra’ pointy pumps and Bee Goddess jewels, the look was pulled effortlessly together with a red, black and white McQueen clutch.
One for the BDOTW list, methinks.

Based on the 1994 autobiography of the same name, MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM chronicles the inspirational life of Nelson Mandela as an international icon and one of the world's most revered leaders. Directed by Justin Chadwick (THE FIRST GRADER, THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL) and adapted by Academy Award® nominated screenwriter William Nicholson (SHADOWLANDS, GLADIATOR, LES MISERABLES), the film spans Mandela's exceptional life journey from his early years as a herd boy in South Africa's rural Cape region, to his days as a lawyer and Apartheid resistance leader, and on to his twenty-seven years spent in Robben Island prison before becoming the nation's first democratically elected President. Acclaimed actor Idris Elba (THE WIRE, LUTHER, PROMETHEUS, PACIFIC RIM, THOR) stars, with Naomie Harris (THE FIRST GRADER, SKYFALL) playing the role of his wife Winnie Mandela, with whom he shared a passionate and troubled love affair that endured over decades. A stellar South African supporting cast is headlined by Tony Kgoroge (INVICTUS), Riaad Moosa (MATERIAL), Fana Mokoena (World War Z, Machine Gun Preacher), Jamie Bartlett (Beyond Borders), Deon Lotz (SKOONHEID, SLEEPER'S WAKE), Simo Mogwaza (DISTRICT 9), Terry Pheto (TSOTSI), Thapelo Mokoena (NOTHING FOR MAHALA), and Praise Singer and Poet of the Nation, Zolani Mkiva.

Every year, the Festival presents a series of special programs devoted to exploring the careers and creative choices of the top talents in the world of cinema, including Oscar®-caliber actors and directors in conversation with leading entertainment journalists. Each program includes a film screening or a selection of film clips and an on-stage conversation.

Nominated for three Golden Globes (including Best Actor for Idris Elba and Best Song for Bono and bandmates The Edge, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr., alongwith Brian Burden), Mandela provides an emotionally riveting overview of five decades in the life of a man who changed the world, South Africa's Nelson Mandela. In turns a gripping political thriller and engrossing biopic, the film was a labor of love, taking 15 years to make it to the screen. That proves to be a blessing, as Idris Elba is the perfect actor to embody the spirit of Mandela, just as Naomie Harris, his co-star, is perfectly cast as Nelson's wife and comrade, Winnie Mandela. Join these co-stars, along with composers Bono and The Edge, as they talk about their inspiration in making this stunning tribute to truth, justice and reconciliation.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) is one of the largest film festivals in North America, welcoming 135,000 attendees annually for its lineup of new and celebrated international features and documentaries.

Idris Elba snubbed by BAFTA for Mandela role... as Chiwetel Ejiofor becomes favourite to take home best actor for 12 Years A Slave

He was tipped to get a Best Actor nomination for his Nelson Mandela biopic, however Idris Elba missed out on a nod from BAFTA on Wednesday.
The Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom star appeared to have been ignored, and instead Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tom Hanks will battle it out for the gong.
While other British talent including Dame Judi Dench and Chiwetel were recognised, the 41-year-old did not cut it despite rave reviews and his double Golden Globe nomination.

The Luther actor - for which he is also nominated in the US -won over audiences in the film about the late South African president based on his bestselling autobiography.
On release, Idris was praised for his accent and moving portrayal of the politician, from his childhood in a tiny, rural village, to his inauguration.
Fans of the star took to Twitter to share their disappointment, with one suggesting he had been 'robbed'.
One wrote: 'Stunned that Idris Elba didn't get a Best Actor BAFTA nom, but it's all irrelevant as Chiwetel Ejiofor's already won it.'

While another added: 'Can't believe Idris Elba hasn't been nominated for a Bafta.. Gutted, it's such a good film'.
There was no sign of animosity from Idris however, who tweeted to say: 'Congrats to @Oprah and Chiwetel @LupitaNyongo M.fassbender on their @BAFTA nominations. GREAT PERFORMANCE'S Well deserved my friends.'
Speaking about the Golden Globes, he told E!'s Chelsea Lately this week: 'The problem is there's two tables to sit on: there's a Mandela table and there's a Luther table. So, since I already won at the Luther table, I was going to sit at the Mandela table. But if I don't win that, I'm gonna run back.'
Adding: 'I've got to think about a speech, because you play someone like Nelson Mandela, you have to say something really important if you win.'

He isn't the only Mandela star to miss out, as his costar Naomie Harris also failed to score a nod, although the movie has been nominated for Outstanding British Film.
Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave continued its award season success by picking up 10 nominations from BAFTA.
The movie, which is heavily tipped for the Oscars, picked up nominations for McQueen and three of its stars and is in the running to be named best film.
Chiwetel, who plays a free man kidnapped and sold into slavery in America's deep south, is nominated while co-stars Lupita Nyong'o and Michael Fassbender are nominated for supporting actress and actor respectively.
He said: 'I continue to be immensely proud of the recognition this film is getting around the world. There is, of course, something particularly special about receiving a Bafta nomination from home.'
Bookmakers immediately installed him as favourite to win his category with odds of 1-4 and made 12 Years A Slave favourite to be named best film.
