Naomie Harris steals the show at The Critics' Circle Film Awards
TODAY'S glamorous evening began on a somewhat solemn note following the death of the Oscar winner, Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Fellow actors such as John Hurt and Steve Coogan were quick to pass on their condolences. Hurt declared him as "amazing to work with".

Despite the shocking news, the festivities went on and the cream of the British acting crop were on show to collect their awards - and I was there to meet them.The gorgeous Naomie Harris stole the show, wearing a stunning 20's style, yellow flapper dress which really complimented her tone. The actress described her casting as Winnie Mandela as "fantastic but terrifying", "she's like seven different people in one, [...] but it is the role I am proudest of". The actress, who plays Eve Moneypenny in Skyfall, also says that she is "looking forward to coming back" to the Bond franchise. Bond's 24th escapade has been announced for release in 2015.
Andy Serkis, famed for his portrayal of 'Gollum' in the Lord of the Ring series, claimed that the role had "dominated his life for the past decade"! But went on to say that it had "opened up all kinds of avenues, [such as] working with Peter Jackson" and now - even directing! The Sméagol-turned-director is now heading the on-screen adaptation of George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'. This will be the actor's first punt at directing a movie.

And he had perhaps came over as a little bit more touchy than he had originally proposed. The Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy says that "I've done what I have to do in it" and when questioned about conceivably working with the new Doctor, Pete Capaldi, he probed "why would I want to work with him?".
After perhaps coming across as a little bit more discourteous than he had intended, Hurt attempted to redeem himself by calling Peter "a brilliant casting". The actor, I'm sure, meant no serious offence and had arrived today to present the 'Dilys Powell Award for Excellence' to his good friend, Gary Oldman.
