Sam Smith drops MAJOR hint that he's recording the theme song for the new James Bond film Spectre... after previously denying any involvement

There was fervent speculation that he was involved earlier in the track this year.
And now singer Sam Smith has dropped the first major hint that he will in fact be recording the theme song for the new James Bond film, Spectre.
The 23-year-old vocalist took to Instagram on Monday to share a snap of him wearing a ring emblazoned with the Spectre logo.

Posting the black-and-white snap to his 4.7million followers without comment, it was evident that it was the Grammy-award winner's hand in the picture as his finger tattoo was clearly visible.Share
The ring in question featured the identifiable octopus logo of Spectre, the villainous agency that 007 came up against in many of the early Bond films and whom will return for the 2015 film.
The logo has been a key part of the promo push for Spectre so far and featured on a poster for the film in December.

The London native denied he was involved in the Spectre theme song earlier this year, telling Capital FM's Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon in July that it wasn't him.
He explained: 'People seem to think I’m doing it but I have no idea what’s going on. I’m being deadly serious. I think I would know by now.'
He added that believed singer Ellie Goulding was going to record it.

Later that month, the 28-year-old girlfriend of Dougie Poynter did little to fuel the rumours when she posted a snap of her leaving Abbey Road studios, captioning the post: 'That's a wrap!'
The studios are where singer Adele recorded the previous Bond movie Skyfall's soundtrack in 2012.
And it wasn't the first case of Ellie dropping a hint, with the Halcyon hitmaker dropping a Bond-themed clue, when she tweeted 'Live and let die' earlier that month - the name of the 1973 Bond film with Paul McCartney at the helm.
Spectre hits UK cinemas on 26 October and is released in the US on 6 November.
A spokesman for Sam Smith declined to comment when approached by MailOnline on Monday.

Gun-brandishing Daniel Craig smoulders in white tuxedo as new poster for Spectre is unveiled

There's just two months until its highly anticipated release.
And the final poster for James Bond: Spectre has finally been unveiled - and it'll certainly have Daniel Craig fans feeling a little hot under the collar.
Dressed in a white tuxedo and brandishing his signature gun, the poster sees the actor oozes his typically dangerous charm.

Amid the murky blue backdrop the 47-year-old poses against is a chilling image of a man wearing a skull mask and a jacket emblazoned with a bone motif, a nod to the sinister organization that 007 aims to uncover in the film.
The British actor recently opened up about his new role and branded his iconic character 'misogynistic', 'sexist' and 'very lonely'.
Craig, who has played the world's best-known spy since 2005, told Esquire magazine he would bring 'weight and meaning' to the role in his fourth outing as Bond, Spectre.

Covering this month's issue, the actor said: 'Hopefully my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as [earlier incarnations]. The world has changed.
'I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies.'
For the first time in the history of the movie franchise, 007 has a relationship with a 'mature' woman, actress Monica Bellucci playing the widow of a gangster.
And Daniel admitted that while Bond might have his pick of attractive women, he cannot form meaningful relationships which leaves him very lonely.

The 24th Bond film will be 'Skyfall times 10' according to the actor, who said it will conspicuously make the parts for women as empowering as possible.
'There's a great sadness. He's got these beautiful women but then they leave. It's sad. And as a man gets older it's not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy, that' s debatable, but the reality, after a couple of months...' he added.
In recent years, the film franchise has endured criticism over its treatment of women, with critics calling for the role of the Bond Girl to be updated.

The latest film will see Bond battle a mysterious organisation known as Spectre. It also stars Austrian-born actor Christoph Waltz as villain Franz Oberhauser, Léa Seydoux as psychologist Dr Madeleine Swann, and Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, the widow of an assassinated mafioso.
Despite his devotion to the films, Craig also suggested in the interview that this may be his last appearance in the role.
There has been speculation that the franchise could have a black Bond for the first time.
Spectre is released in UK cinemas on October 26.
